Tampa Bay Basic Training

Programs vary in length of time and can be a minimum of 2 weeks or maximum of 10 weeks, again depending on the program(s) that the student is enrolled in. For example 5 classroom hours will be the equivalent of three credit hours, and 40 classroom hours will be the equivalent to 120 credit hours (which is needed to successfully complete a Home Health Aide). Programs, Tuitions and Curriculum will be discussed in greater details in another section of this student’s handbook.

TRANSFERS
A transferring student (CNA and/or HHA) can be given updates and get guidance on how to become Florida certified. Students desiring to become CNAs can obtain Board of Nursing forms. If a student is a NY HHA, he or she can test and take the Florida HHA exam. In the case of NY CNAs, there is a $60.00 fee for the Florida Board of Nursing transfer, along with proof of a valid Florida Driver’s License. If a NY CNA license is expired, the Florida State test is $150.00 (for Florida residence less than five years). If the NY CNA has lived in Florida for over five years the cost is $127.00 to become certified as a CNA in the state of Florida.
