Elaine's House Project
A Dance & Mentorship Program by Tampa Bay Community Services
Elaine’s House Project is a new, community-focused dance and mentorship program led by Program Director Katara Phelps, a Tampa native devoted to uplifting the next generation through the performing arts.
Hosted by Tampa Bay Community Services, this program offers dance education, positive mentorship, and performance opportunities to children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Tampa Bay.
Who Can Join?
This program is open to:
✅ Children & teens ages 3–18
✅ Adults enrolled in our Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Program
No dance experience required!
We welcome all skill levels and backgrounds.
What We Offer
- Daily & After-School Classes
Flexible schedules to accommodate school and family needs. - Weekend Rehearsals
Optional weekend practices for those interested in performing in community events. - Mentorship Through Movement
Guidance from trained instructors who serve as role models and mentors. - Inclusive & Supportive Environment
Our classes are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and empowering. - Free Transportation Available
For those who qualify, we provide transportation assistance to and from classes.
Meet Our Director: Katara Phelps
Born and raised in Tampa, Katara Phelps brings years of experience in dance, education,
and community service. Her mission is to create a safe and joyful space where
every student — regardless of ability — can express themselves through
dance and find confidence through creativity.
Class Schedule
🕒 Weekday Classes:
Morning, afternoon, and after-school sessions available.
Monday - Friday | 10AM-1PM
🕒 Weekend Rehearsals (Optional):
Saturdays | 11AM-2PM – Community performance team practices.
Need Transportation?
Tampa Bay Community Services offers free transportation for participants who qualify. Let us know on your registration form if you need this service.
